Sound	Explanation	example
Diegetic	Diegetic sound which is part of the film world. This can be dialogue, music or sound effects which come from a source within the film world. Diegetic sound can occur either on screen or off screen.	In east enders in the queen Vic there is background noise of people talking and the radio.
Non-diegetic	Is sound which we do not recognise as part of the film world .	Background music and voice over’s.
